A few weeks ago, we flew (rather indirectly)to Budapest. After picking up a rental car and staying one night in a hostel we roadtripped into Slovenia. We spent a few days exploring the capitol and Lake Bled with our friends. Several people in these places made the entire country feel glowing with welcome.
We parted ways as they headed to another destination while Brenden and I headed to Kobarid. We took backroads to the destination and stopped countless times for mountain, valley, and wildlife views. We had the most amazing meal of our lives and even unintentionally hiked a few feet into Italy. Our drive from the mountains to the beach town of Piran was only 2 hours, and led us to see the coast of Croatia and Italy. Our Airbnb host gave us free local grapes while we chatted late at night in her kitchen and we grabbed dinner with a British couple living in the Netherlands. (It’s nice having an incredibly out-going husband.)
After our week in Slovenia, we finally road-tripped back to Hungary to spend the weekend in Budapest. We took our cheap flights (seriously, the airline tried to sell us scratch cards during the flight) back to Ireland where we met up with Rachel and James for one last night in Dublin. After breakfast, we ran across half (well, maybe less than that) the city to check out of our hostel in time to make our shuttle to the airport.
Thankful to have had all the best travel companions for this wonderful trip.
A mix of digital and film.
